Tivat Already a popular tourist destination, Tivat is on its way to becoming a centre of maritime tourism in the southern Adriatic. The rivers near Prevlaka, as well as the towns of Župa and Kalimanj, provide good conditions for the construction of marinas and sailing clubs. Canadian businessman Peter Munk bought a shipyard in Tivat with the intention of transforming it into a luxury resort and marina for luxury yachts called Porto Montenegro. In 1971, Tivat Airport received a modern runway and is now a significant airport for international air traffic. It served 1,367,282 passengers in 2019.

Although it is the youngest town in the Boka region, Tivat has a number of tourist attractions. The Renaissance summer house Buca in the city center, Ostrvo Cvijeća (Flower Island) with sacred monuments, Gornja Lastva, the old town core at an altitude of 300 m, the magnificent sandy beach of Plavi Horizonti and Sveti Marko Island with former Club Med cottages are the most visited. In the city itself lies the natural harbor Kalimanj. There is also a selection of cultural events, such as the “Bocce Olympiad” and the “Summer Festival”. Tivat boasts a botanical garden planted with gifts from Bokan sailors, who brought back a wide variety of exotic tree species and ornamental plants from their travels.
